Frequently Asked Questions

What Services Does Personal Aid Home Care Provide?

Personal Aid Home Care provides nurse-led senior home care, including personal care, dementia support, companionship, meal preparation, live-in care, respite care, and post-hospital recovery services.

What does a PSW do?

A PSW helps seniors with personal care, daily activities, companionship, and safety support at home, allowing them to live independently with dignity.

What do PSWs do housekeeping and meal prep?

Yes, PSWs can help with light housekeeping and meal preparation to support a senior’s daily living, safety, and nutrition at home.

what is live-in care?

Live-in care is in-home senior care where a caregiver lives in the home to provide daily assistance, safety, and companionship, allowing seniors to age comfortably at home.

How quickly can home care services start?

In many cases, in-home care services can start quickly after the initial assessment. Timing depends on care needs and scheduling, but we prioritize urgent situations and smooth transitions from hospital to home.

What is included in a home care nurse assessment?

A nurse assessment reviews physical health, emotional well-being, daily routines, safety risks, and family concerns. You’ll receive clear recommendations and next steps, helping you plan care with confidence instead of uncertainty.

Is home care flexible if my parent’s needs change?

Absolutely. Our flexible home care services can be adjusted as needs change—from a few hours a week to daily, overnight, or live-in care. Families are never locked into unnecessary services.

Do you provide dementia and memory care at home?

Yes. We offer specialized dementia home care focused on routine, safety, communication, and emotional support. Our nurse-led approach helps families understand changes early and adjust care as memory needs evolve.

What is nurse-led home care, and how is it different from regular home care?

Nurse-led home care means a registered nurse guides the assessment, care planning, and ongoing support. Unlike standard home care, this approach ensures seniors receive the right level of care, improved safety, and proactive planning—especially for complex needs, dementia care, or post-hospital recovery.

How do we fund the Personal Aid Home Care ?

Our services can be covered by a variety of sources including: Insurances (health benefits, health spending accounts, accident, long term care); family/joint family funds; trusts and estates; real estate equity. All of our professional care services are also eligible for the Health Care Tax Credit. If you would like more information on all the funding options in your province, please email to [email protected]

We already have government funding for care, how do your service fit in?

Many families use our services alongside government-funded home care. Public services often have limited hours and fixed schedules. Our private nurse-led home care fills the gaps—such as evenings, weekends, overnight care, dementia support, or consistent caregiver matching—so your parent receives reliable, continuous support at home.

Are we locked in any contract?

No. We are here to provide as much or as little support as needed. Typically, we require a minimum per visit, but no contracted number of hours per week, or duration of service. We are on your schedule.

Do families have a choice in selecting the caregiver?

Yes. Families always have a say. We believe successful home care depends on trust and compatibility. If adjustments are needed, we work with you to ensure the caregiver is the right fit—without added stress or disruption.
